Schnabel, Floyd L.
> MADISON - Floyd L. Schnabel, age 75, passed away on Thursday, July 6, 2006, at Meriter Hospital. He was born on Jan. 4, 1931, in Unity, a son of Gotthilf and Magdalena Schnabel. Floyd served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He worked for Capitol Underground for more than 20 years. Floyd enjoyed working many cold winter nights with the City of Monona, Public Works Department, fixing water main breaks. He was a member of Local No. 139, and a retired lieutenant on the Town of Madison Volunteer Fire Department. Floyd was an avid NASCAR fan and enjoyed races in Florida and Alabama. He also enjoyed woodworking and making bird houses, bird feeders, and especially bug barns for his grandchildren. Floyd loved sitting on his porch and watching the world go by. He is survived by five children, Mike (Penny), Mark (Renee), Carrie (Pat) Crossen, Scott (Theresa) and Eric; nine grandchildren, Kristy, Jason, Jeremy, Cody, Chaylee, Jennifer, Brooke, Kaija and Hailie; a brother, Lawrence (Doris); dear friend, Sue; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Floyd was preceded in death by his parents. Memorial services will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Drive, at 11 a.m. on Monday, July 10, 2006, with the Rev. Scott Ziegler presiding. Burial will be at Prairie Mound Cemetery, Oregon. Visitation will be at the funeral home from 9 a.m. until the time of the service on Monday. Memorials may be made to Victory Junction Gang Camp, 4500 Adams Way, Randleman, NC 27317, a camp that enriches the lives of children with chronic illnesses.
