Bio: In the evening hours of Dec. 31, 2011, Onida Pearl Seebaugh was called home to be with the Lord from Camden Clark Medical Center, Memorial Campus.Onida was born Nov. 5, 1923, to the late Clarence and Bessie Whipkey.Onida was pre-deceased by her only brother, Emil Whipkey; two children, Carl and Carolyn; and her son-in-law, Roger Mersing.Onida was the faithful wife of Ercie Seebaugh for 68 years, and the devoted mother of five surviving children, Raymond Seebaugh (Dixie), Charlotte Vincent (Dave), Sharon Mersing (Roger), Michael Seebaugh (Pam) and Ronnie Seebaugh (Connie). Onida was also the "adopted mother" of Sheila Lockney.Onida is also survived by a niece and two nephews, Linda Willis, Emil Whipkey Jr. and Charles Whipkey; as well as 13 grandchildren, Belinda Greenburg, Jerry Seebaugh, Raymond Seebaugh Jr., Tammy Smith, Jeff Vincent, Kevin Vincent, Missie White, Kim George, David White, Alexis Seebaugh, Holly Seebaugh, Christopher Seebaugh and Daniel Seebaugh. Onida was also the adopted grandmother of Katie, Roy, Stacy, Stacia, Jacob, Kelsey and Thomas.Onida was a faithful member of Gateway Apostolic Church, as well as Davisville Community Chapel, often playing the piano for both churches in successive nights. Onida loved singing with her husband and children, traveling extensively in the region in her later years to spread the good news of the gospel in music and song. Onida was a devoted homemaker whose life revolved around her husband, children and churches, and her faithfulness and dedication left an indelible imprint on all who knew her. Onida was a shining example of strength, grace and determination through her many months of declining health.The family wishes to thank the staff and doctors of Camden Clark Hospital, HealthSouth and Transition wards for their tender care during her illness. Also, the family wishes to express their heartfelt thanks to Velma Stewart, Judy Hart and all the family and friends who provided assistance and support for her care during her stay at the home of Ronnie and Connie Seebaugh. Onida will be sadly missed by those who loved her, but she has gone ahead to prepare for the day her family is reunited with her to sing in heaven.Onida's homecoming celebration will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Leavitt Funeral Home, Parkersburg. Visitation will be Tuesday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. The service will be officiated by Pastor Steven A. Joy, Pastor Raymond Seebaugh and Senior Pastor M. W. Seebaugh, with assistance from area Apostolic ministers. Onida will be buried at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
