Viola Schock, daughter of John and Cathryn (Klipfel) Schock was born June 27, 1921 on the family homestead near Ashley, ND. She attended country school and worked on the family farm.
She was united in marriage to Leo Dammel in Ashley. They made their home on his parent’s farm southeast of Eureka. They eventually took over the operation where they raised small grains and dairy. In the late 1950’s, they sold the farm and moved into Eureka. Viola did house painting and worked at the Eureka Hospital for more than 30 years in housekeeping. She tried retirement, but continued to work part-time at the hospital. Her husband died September 13, 1987. Viola continued to live in Eureka until 2008 when she moved to Texas to live with her daughter.
Viola enjoyed reading periodicals and quilting was a happy pastime of hers. She loved to have coffee and play cards with her lady friends. For relaxation she listened to gospel music.
Viola is survived by her children, Dennis (Mickey) Dammel of Douglas, WY and Linda Ovalle of Lufkin, TX and three grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, six brothers and sisters.
