Obituaries Rosetta Schnabel Location: Sioux Falls, SD Funeral Home: MILLER FUNERAL-OBITS-SF Sioux Falls - Rosetta Martha Schnabel, age 86, of Sioux Falls, died Tuesday, February 23, 2010, at the Sanford Hospice Cottage. Rose was born in McPherson County South Dakota on the family farm April 27, 1923 to Rudolph and Katharina (Opp) Hilgemann. She grew up and attended school in the Eureka area. On October 17, 1946, she was united in marriage with Reinhold J. Schnabel in Eureka, SD. They were married for 62 years and have two sons. During their marriage, they farmed near Eureka and in 1954, moved to town where they owned and operated a produce station until 1968. During those years, Rose also worked at the Eureka hospital as an aide. In 1968 the couple moved to Pierre, SD where Rose trained to become a Licensed Practical Nurse, graduating in 1970. She worked at St. Mary's Hospital in Pierre until her retirement in 1986. In 1988, the couple moved to Sioux Falls to be closer to family. From 1989 until 2001, she worked at Wendy's Restaurant. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Sioux Falls and enjoyed participating in the church's Energizers program and the quarterly Senior Events. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, cooking, baking, gardening, dancing, reading and visiting with family and friends. Grateful for having shared her life are her sons Charles (Voleta) Schnabel and grandsons Evan and Drew of Brookings, SD; Thomas (Kathrine) Schnabel of Sioux Falls; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, sisters Malinda Stroh and Alice Beck and brothers Oscar and Henry Hilgemann. The family will greet friends from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Sunday, February 28th at Miller Funeral Home on Main Avenue.
