Constance DeRycke - (Kewanee) - Constance C. "Connie" DeRycke, 58, of Kewanee died at 7:50pm, Saturday, March 3, 2001, at Kewanee Hospital.
Born Feb.5, 1943, in Kewanee to Frederick and Catherine Frances Wolfe Thurwanger, she married David C. DeRycke on Nov. 21, 1964, in Kewanee. he survives.
Also surviving are two sons, Dan (and Trina) of Galva and Andrew of Kewanee; four daughters, Sharon DeRycke of Woodhull, Mrs. Matthew (Phyllis) Murphy, of Decatur, and Mrs. Neal (Judy) Post and Jennifer DeRycke, both of Kewanee; one grandson; four brothers, Joe (and Linda) Thurwanger and Bill Thurwanger, both of Peoria, AZ., John (and Kay) Thurwanger of Neponset and Tom (and Linda) Thurwanger of Florida; and nine sisters, Mrs. Larry (Joyce) Young of Everton, AK, Mrs. Leo (Rita) Sulaski of Lubbock, TX, Carole Moates and Pat Bent, both of Kewanee, Mary Bell of Peoria, AZ, Mrs. Alan (Mary) Warrick and Mrs. Jim (Yvonne) Decker, both of Carrollton, TX, Mrs. Gene (Edie) Graham of Hot Springs, AK, and Theresa Pistole of Sacramento, CA.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one infant brother.
She was a graduate of Black Hawk East College in Kewanee and Western Illinois University in Macomb.
She receved a master's degree in education from Xavier College in Chicago in December 2000.
She was a science teacher at Stark County Junior High School in Wyoming.
She was a former member of Wethersfield High School Booster Club.
She was a Cub Scout and Girl Scout leader.
She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Kewanee, where she served as a minister of communion, was a member of R.I.C.A. and was a former C.C.D. insturctor.
A funeral Mass will be at 9:30am Wednesday (3/7) at her church. The Rev. Duane Jack will officiate. Visitation will be from 5 - 8pm Tuesday (3/6) at Rux Funeral Home in Kewaneee, where a wake service will be at 8pm. Burial will be in Wethersfield Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association or to her church.
