Emma Hausauer Obituary
Brookings: Emma Hausauer, 96, passed away Oct. 19, 2010, in Brookings, S.D. Born in Eureka, S.D., on Feb. 26, 1914, Emma was the daughter of Jacob and Mamie (Bieber) Strobel. Emma was baptized Lutheran and, later in life, was a faithful member of the United Methodist Church in Eureka.
On Nov. 26, 1933, she married Arthur Henry Hausauer. They lived on a farm six miles north of Eureka, where they were blessed with two daughters, Marian and Irene. They truly enjoyed working in the closeness of the Lord as farmers. She was preceded in death by her husband Arthur on Nov. 30, 1964.
In 1966, she retired and moved to Eureka, where she continued pursuing her joys in life, caring for children and gardening. In Sept. 2003, she moved to Watertown, S.D., to be closer to family and eventually moved to Brookings, S.D.
She is survived by two daughters: Marian (Keith) Clark of Sioux Falls and Irene Bartol of Mesa, Ariz.; six grandchildren: Connie Harrington, Karen Skogstad, Kathy Bertsch, Ken Clark, Kevin Bertsch and Kurtis Bertsch. She is also survived by seven great-grandchildren: Craig Harrington, Jennifer Harrington, Michael Harrington, Ryan Harrington, Kali Skogstad, Kyle Skogstad and Kaylee Bertsch.
Preceding her in death were her husband, parents, four brothers, six sisters, and two stepsisters.
Funeral services will be 2:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 23, 2010, at Lien-Straub Funeral Chapel, Eureka, with Pastor Bob Duemig leading the service. Burial follows at the Eureka Cemetery.
Visitation (closed casket) will be one hour prior to the service Saturday.
