Katherine married Fred MEHLHAF, he died 10 January 1901. They had one daughter, Bertha (Mehlhaf) CORSICA. Katherine MEHLHAF married Jacob KIRSCHENMANN in the spring of 1903. The couple had 5 children; Adella, Leobold, Martha, Arthur and Viola. Obituary Courtesy of Andrea (#47110799); DAILY REPUBLIC, Mitchell, SD- 2/28/1972 Funeral services for Mrs. Katherine Kirschenmann, 95, Lake Andes, who died at an Armour hospital Feb. 25, were Monday at 2 pm at Our Savior Lutheran Church, Corsica. Burial was in the Lake view Cemetery, Lake Andes. The Rev. Vernon Andersen officiated. Clements Funeral Home, Armour, was in charge of arrangements. Katherine Bender was born April 16, 1876 in Hutchinson County, a daughter of Fred and Christina Bender. She married Jake Kirschenmann at Menno and they lived on a homestead north of Lake Andes. Following his death in January 1940, she lived with his son at the farm until two years ago when she moved to the Corsica Nursing home. Surviving are her sons, Leo, Lake Andes and Arthur, Yakima, Wash.; daughters, Mrs. Adella Misener, Mrs. Viola Morley, Tacoma, Wash.; Mrs. Martha Hague, Seattle; Mrs. Bertha Gruenewald, Corsica; five grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; brother, Emanuel, Menno; sister, Mrs. Dan Schnabel, Menno.
