Theodore 'Teddy' Schultz Published: Monday, June 29, 2009 11:13 PM CDT Funeral services for Theodore 'Teddy' Schultz, 82, of Tripp, S.D., will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, July 1, at Frieden's Reformed Church in Tripp, with Rev. Greg Way officiating. Interment will follow in Frieden's Cemetery, Tripp. Casketbearers are nephews Terry Kirschenman, Daryl Kirschenman, Dennis Fuerst, Doug Fuerst, Robert Fuerst, and Larry Schultz. Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 3:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m., at the Goglin Memorial Chapel in Tripp. Online condolences may be sent at www.goglinfh.com. Theodore Ruben "Teddy" Schultz was born on Tuesday, October 12, 1926, near Freeman, South Dakota. His parents were Christian and Lydia (Holzwarth) Schultz. He was baptized on February 12, 1927, by Rev. John Bodenman in the Johannestal Reformed Church near Freeman. He attended various country schools in Hutchinson County through the 8th grade. He was confirmed on June 22, 1941, by Rev. William Korn in the Zion Reformed Kassel Church near Menno. Ted served in the U.S. Army from January 1951 until December 1952 and was stationed at Ft. Lewis in Washington. Teddy farmed all his life on the family farm 7 1/2 miles northeast of Tripp. One of his favorite things was listening to polka music. After retiring from farming Teddy traveled extensively, visiting all 50 states and taking 13 overseas trips. Teddy passed away on Saturday, June 27, 2009, at the Good Samaritan Society in Tripp, having attained the age of 82 years, 8 months and 15 days. Ted is survived by one brother, Gideon Schultz of Yankton; two sisters: Olinda Fuerst and husband Clinton of Tripp and Loretta Kirschenman and husband Willard of Menno; 16 nieces and nephews; and a host of other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, father Christ in 1956 and mother Lydia in 1975, and his brother, Nathaniel on May 8, 2001.
