Elizabeth Ann Neuharth, age 85, of Huron, died Wednesday, April 28, 2010, at the Violet Tschetter Memorial Home. Her funeral service will be at 3:30 PM, Saturday, May 1st at the United Parish of Alpena with Pastor Sarah Herman officiating. Burial will be in the Restlawn Memory Gardens Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1 to 8 PM Friday at the Kuhler Funeral Home and prior to the service at the church on Saturday afternoon. Her family will be present at the funeral home from 5 to 7 PM Friday. Elizabeth Ann Brandenburg was born October 17, 1924, 6 1/4 miles southwest of Alpena, to Julius H. and Bertha F. (Schmidt) Brandenburg. She attended country school at Wahl School in Dale Township and graduated from Alpena High School in 1942.
She was baptized and joined the Alpena Methodist Church. She worked as a clerk in Lundborgs Store in Alpena before she married Richard Neuharth on April 8, 1945. They lived on his uncle?s farm one year before moving over to Richard?s parents farm.
Elizabeth worked for Ravens Industries for several years, M-tron until it closed and Wilbrechts for three years. Elizabeth worked for Boyd?s Wagon Wheel, and sold tickets at the South Dakota State Fair for a number of years. She also candled eggs for many years. Elizabeth and Richard moved to Huron in November 1998.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Richard; five sisters, Marian Pratt, Dorothy Neuharth, Alma Thomas, Minna Lundborg, and Lee Kringen; two brothers, William and Otto Brandenburg; two sisters-in-law, Rose Brandenburg and Ardella Brandenburg; and four brothers-in-law, Verne Pratt, Helmuth Neuharth, Elmer Lundborg, and Alfred Kringen.
Grateful for having shared her life are her two sons and their wives, Steve and Lu Anne Neuharth of Creston, Iowa and Jerry and Renee Neuharth of Wilmot; four grandchildren, Debra Neuharth of West Des Moines, Iowa, Scott Neuharth of West Des Moines, Iowa, Brad Neuharth of Fargo, North Dakota, and Holly Neuharth of Bay St. Louis, Mississippi; one brother and sister-in-law, Harold and Edna Brandenburg of Huron; and many nieces and nephews.
