- Elsie Rundlett's whirlwind romance lasted 68 years

Funeral services for, Elsie Rundlett, age 88, of Mobridge will be at 2 p.m., on Monday, March 9, 2009, at the First Baptist Church in Mobridge with Rev. Kurt Brenner and Rev. Gary Street officiating.
Burial will be at 1 p.m., MDT, on Tuesday, March 10, 2009, at Black Hills National Cemetery under the direction of Kesling Funeral Home of Mobridge.
Visitation will be on Sunday from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Mrs. Rundlett passed away March 4, 2009 at her daughter's home in Colorado Springs, Colo., after a three-month battle with cancer.
Elsie was born on Jan. 11, 192, to Gottlieb and Karolina (Kaglea) Pfeifle in Mound City, S.D. She grew up on a farm between Eureka and Java and was one of 10 children.
Elsie married Roy Rundlett on Jan. 11, 1941, in Deadwood. They resided in Sturgis for a number of years before moving to the Mobridge area where they have been since 1950. As of Jan. 11, they had been married 68 years, after a whirlwind romance of two weeks.
Elsie was an active member of the First Baptist Church, and enjoyed volunteering at the nursing home and MMA Thrift Store. She enjoyed working in her garden, especially growing flowers. She was friendly and outgoing, and loved visiting with everyone.
Elsie is survived by her husband, Roy of Mobridge, two children, JoAnn (Kurt) Brenner of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Dennis (Karen) Rundlett of Colorado Springs; four siblings, Fred Pfeifle of Selby, Jake Pfeifle of Tucson, Ariz., Lillian Heisler of Zephyr Hills, Fa., and Irene Oster of Spearfish; seven grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents, brothers, Gottlieb Pfeifle, Albert Pfeifle, Walter Pfeifle and Herbert Geigle; sister, Alvina Aman; sister-in-laws, Alice Pfeifle, Katie Pfeifle, Rose Pfeifle and Lenore Pfeifle; brother-in-laws, Henry Aman, John Oster, and Royal Heisler.
Casketbearers will be Michael Rundlett, Paul Brenner, Steven Brenner, Brent Dickerson, B.J. Alexander and Mike Pfeifle.
Honorary casketbearers will be Carol and Justin Little, Dana and David Dew, Kirsten and Mark Wendt, Sheri Dickerson, Kim Brenner, Aimee Brenner, Prunela Rundlett
Dennis Rundlett will give the eulogy. Cordelia Borth will be the organist. The grandchildren will sing a quartet, "It Is Well With My Soul", Paul Brenner will sing "Your Grace Still Amazes Me." Congregational hymns will be "Amazing Grace," "How Great Thou Art" and "Just A Closer Walk With Thee."
