- [S927] Obituary.
arl Milton Eastwood was born November 2, 1921 in Glencoe, Oklahoma. He was the third of five children born to Fred and Virgie (Coe) Eastwood. The family eventually settled in San Juan, Texas before Carl moved his family to Rosenberg. In 1942, Carl, "Tex", was drafted into the Army. He joined the Medical Corp. where he later served in the European Theater under both General Patton and General Eisenhower. There were two events which made an impression on him. One was when he was presented a bronze star in France in the presence of General Dwight Eisenhower. The second occurred while Carl was holding the heart of a soldier so the surgeon could remove shrapnel from underneath. The surgeon prophesized that one day surgery would be performed on the heart itself. When the war ended, he returned to the Valley and married his beautiful girlfriend Marion Lorraine Kochert on December 12, 1946. After the war, Carl joined and was commander for three veteran organizations, the American Legion, the VFW and the 40/8. He joined Red Barn Chemicals and worked himself up to District Manager over the state of Texas. In 1968, Carl bought a business in Rosenberg, Texas and named the company Carl Eastwood and Sons. Carl loved working with the farmers and always said, if you want to know what is happening in town, talk and listen to them. Dad finally decided to retire and turn the company over to his two sons and daughter. He and Marion enjoyed bus trips with other couples and visited various parts of the United States. Carl's favorite hobbies were hunting and fishing which he did with the entire family. His favorite deer stand was a ground stand big enough for he, his wife and a cot, so Marion could sleep. He just wanted her with him. As for fishing, from Port O'Connor to Matagorda Bay to Lake Somerville, there was always a boat and fishing rods ready to go. Carl is survived by his wife of 67 years, Marion; children, Carl Milton Eastwood, Jr. and wife, Sally, Ginger Pawlak and husband, Ben, Mary Perry and husband, Kevin, Linda Jochec and husband, Ron, and Jimmy Eastwood and wife, Denise; grandchildren, Brad Pawlak and wife, Kelly, Donnie Kelner and wife, Laura, Melody Toman and husband, Jeff, Amanda Nedbalek and husband, Brent, Kammi Eastwood, Greg Prenty and wife, Ally, Oscar Martinez and wife, Jacqueline; great grandchildren, Hope and Megan Pond, Brayden Pawlak, Abby and Austin Toman, Greyson Nedbalek, Jace Prenty and Olivia Martinez; along with other relatives and many friends.
