Joann Hayes, 77, of Columbus Township, died unexpectedly Friday, October 9, 2009, at St. Joseph Mercy Port Huron Hospital, Port Huron.Joann was born Monday, May 2, 1932, in Corydon, IN, the daughter of the late Frank and Bertha (Kochert) Bachman.Her marriage to Victor R. Hayes was Saturday, June 25, 1955, in East Detroit.She was a parishioner of St. Phillip Neri Holy Family Parish, Columbus Township.Joann was a 35-year resident of Columbus Township and had been a part time writer for the former Richmond Review and Richmond Voice Newspapers. She enjoyed writing in her spare time and spending time with her grandchildren.Surviving in addition to her husband Victor of 54 years are two daughters and sons-in-law, Maria and Don Benson of Harrison Twp., and Sue and Jim Mikolaizyk of Chesterfield, two sons and daughters-in-law, Jeff and Carol of New Baltimore and Patrick and Kris of Clinton Twp; nine grandchildren, Don, Lindsay, Kendra, Kevin, Keith, Jillian, Trevor, Matthew and Jason; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Faye and George Rinke of Warren, Rita and Ed Ledyard of Florida, and Sally and Carl Wedlick of Tennessee, three brothers and two sisters-in-law, Don and Delores Bachman of Mt. Clemens, Gene and Arlene Bachman of OK, Frank and Sylvia Bachman of CA and Fred Bachman of N.C. and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.Her brother Jim and his wife Theresa preceded her in death. Her family honors the memory of Joann and invites you to visit and share Tuesday 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Kaatz Funeral Directors, Richmond, with scripture services at 7:00 p.m. Rite of Christian Burial will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday at St. Phillip Neri Holy Family Parish, with 9:00 a.m. visiting. Fr. Joe Horn, pastor will officiate.
