OTTO AND IDA E. MEIDINGER Otto Meidinger, son of Adolph Meidinger and Barbara Meidinger, was born on March 26, 1900 in Kassel Township, McPherson County, South Dakota. Otto attended elementary grade school in Kassel Township. On June 27, 1920, Otto married Ida E. Hieb, daughter of John and Rose Boerkirchert Hieb. She was born June 22, 1900. Otto and Ida became the parents of six sons, Herbert O. Meidinger, Kansas City, Kansas; Ray E. Meidinger, Aberdeen, South Dakota; Eugene M. Meidinger, deceased; Floyd E. Meidinger, Leola, South Dakota and two other sons who died in infancy. Eugene passed away on May 5, 1977. Otto passed away on November 10, 1969. Ida E. Meidinger resides at 1212 S. Lawson Street, Apt. B10, Aberdeen, South Dakota. Otto and Ida operated a grain and livestock farm which was located six miles east and two and one-half miles south of Eureka from the time of their marriage until they moved to Eureka in 1943. The farm operation was continued with sons, Ray, Eugene and Floyd, until Eugene took over sole operation of the farm until his death in 1977. With a good measure of hard work and thriftiness, Otto and Ida Meidinger made a good living from their land, educated their sons and prospered.
