Hilmer L. Opp, age 86 of Richfield, formerly of Eureka, SD, Aberdeen, SD and Albert Lea, MN, passed away on August 17, 2015. Born September 27, 1928 in Mound City, SD, Hilmer grew up in Eureka and graduated from Eureka High School in 1946. He served in the U.S.Army during the Korean War and had a lifelong banking career in Aberdeen, SD , Albert Lea, MN and surrounding area, retiring in 1990. He was an active member of the Presbyterian Church, the Jaycees, Elks Club, Rotary, American Legion and Sertoma. Survived by loving wife of 65 years, Genevieve; son, Steven P. Opp, Brian Opp and Charles (Beth) Opp; grandchildren, Randi (David) Mutnick, Christopher Opp, Jenna Opp and Krista Opp; great-grandchildren, Josie and Eli Mutnick; siblings, Gilbert Opp, Lorraine (Howard) Mettler, Milo (Arlene) Opp, Lawrence (Flo) Opp, Reiny (Diane) Opp, Harry (Carol) Opp, Gloria Gilbert and Geraldine (Gary) Schnabel; nieces, nephews and family friends including Annette "Lynn" Denton and Ray Nguyen. Preceded in death by parents, Jacob Opp and Frieda (Pfeiffer) Opp, and sister, Priscilla (Alvin) Schmitt.
