Bio: Winner - Funeral service for Kenneth "Kenny" E. Opp, 56, of Winner, and formerly of Eureka, will be 10:30 a.m., Friday, Sept. 16, 2005, at Eureka Reformed Church. The Rev. Dale Clark will officiate. Burial will be in the Eureka City Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday from 1-7 p.m. at the funeral home and for one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday. He died Saturday, Sept. 10, 2005, at the Heart Institute of South Dakota in Sioux Falls. Kenneth E. Opp, son of Ervin and LaVerne (Aman) Opp was born April 17, 1949, at Aberdeen, S.D. He grew up in the Eureka area, graduating with the Class of 1967 from Eureka High School. He then graduated from Presentation College in Aberdeen with a Registered Nurse Degree, later pursuing his degree in Nursing Home Administration. He was a Nursing Home Administrator in Gettysburg and Groton, S.D., Ellendale, N.D., and Council Bluffs and the Des Moines, Iowa area, all with the Beverly Health Systems. Kenny enjoyed doing farm work and all sports. He was always very eager to do volunteer work. He will be remembered for his desire to help people and better their quality of life. Survivors include two daughters, Camille Opp of Des Moines, Iowa, and Kara Opp of Independence, Iowa; one son, Ryan Opp of Dallas, Texas; his parents of Eureka; two brothers, Dr. Darold (Pam) Opp of Aberdeen, and Mark (Elisa) Opp of Eureka; and one granddaughter, Reese. His brother, Arnold in 1980 preceded him in death. Casketbearers will be Todd Gross, Tim Weber, David Bauer, Douglas Neuharth, Danial Opp and Leonard Libis. The pianist will be Rhonda Strouckel and there will be a duet by Rhonda Strouckel and Vonnie Reuer. The family prefers memorials be made to the Eureka Youth Recreational Area and Baseball Program, PO Box 655, Eureka, SD 57437-0655 or Kenny's grandchildren, 2083 NW Hickory Lane, Ankeny, IA 50021.
