  [S927] Obituary. Martha Maier Martha Maier, 87, of Galt, died April 23 in a local hospital. She was born Feb. 13, 1917, in Venturia, N.D. Mrs. Maier married Arthur Opp in 1935, and they lived in Eureka, S. D. before settling in Lodi. She worked at the Lodi Nut Company and Fairmont Convalescent Hospital until Arthur's death in 1975. In 1978 Martha moved to Jamestown, N.D. and married Gotthilf "Curly" Maier on April 7, 1978. When Mr. Gotthilf died, she moved to Winner, S.D., and then back to Lodi a year later. She enjoyed gardening, cooking German food and playing cards. She is survived by her son, Robert Opp, of Wilton; stepdaughter, Jean Kleinknecht, of Fargo, N.D.; brother, Edwin Stroh, of Mobridge, S.D.; sister, Loretta Dockter, of Lodi; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by husbands, Arthur Opp and Gotthilf Maier; son, Fred Opp; brothers, Berthold Stroh, Herbert Stroh and Wilbert Stroh; sisters, Hulda Loebs, Edna Neuhart and Adeline Ehly. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Cherokee Memorial Park with Pastor Her Schaal officiating. There will be no visitation.
