Visitation will be from 1:00-6:00 pm with a prayer service at 6:00 pm, Tuesday, March 6, 2012 at Spitzer-Miller Funeral Home, 1111 S. Main Street, Aberdeen. Martha Marie Weishaar daughter of John and Magdelena (Eman) Weishaar was born on March 9, 1916 near Hosmer, SD. This is the area where she was raised and attended country school. As a young lady she helped her parents on the farm. Martha was united in marriage to Eugene Opp on November 15, 1936. They began making their home on the Opp family farm northeast of Eureka until 1955, when they moved to Aberdeen. For the past five years Martha resided in the Homestead Apartments. Martha was a member of the First Reformed Church in Aberdeen where she was active in the Ladies Aide. For several years she also cleaned houses. Martha was an outstanding baker and was known for her Kuchen. In her free time she enjoyed making quilts for family and lap robes for people in nursing homes. Grateful for having shared her life are her six sons; Donald Opp, Grand Junction, CO, Gerald (JoAnn) Opp, San Jose, CA, Stanley Opp, Malaga, WA, Kermit Opp, Portland, OR, Timothy (Vicki) Opp, New Braunfels, TX, and Thomas Opp, West Minster, CO, four daughters; Marge (Denny) Puepke, Ethan, SD, Joyce (Jerry) Hunstad, Aberdeen, Shirley (Howard) Hollimon, Kerrville, TX, and Connie Akers, Aberdeen, daughter-in-law, Sharon Opp, San Jose, CA, 24 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren, and one sister, Esther Preszler, Roscoe, SD. She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Magdalena Weishaar, her husband, Eugene Opp in 1991 two sons; Elton in 1992 and Wilbert in 1996, one daughter-in-law, Vicky Opp; nine brothers, four sisters and two grandchildren.
