Eureka, SD-Funeral Service for Charles J. Neuharth, 62, of Eureka will be 10:00 am, Saturday, October 10, 2015 at Eureka High School Gymnasium. The Rev. James Grossmann will officiate.
Burial will be in Eureka City Cemetery.
Visitation will be Friday from 5-7 pm at the funeral home.
Charles died September 27, 2015 at Avera St. Luke’s Hospital from injuries sustained in a motor vehicle accident near Mina, SD.
Charles J. Neuharth, son of Reuben and Martha (Goehring) Neuharth was born September 24, 1953 at Eureka. He grew up in Eureka, graduating from Eureka High School with the class of 1972.
He was united in marriage to Marilyn Trautman on October 12, 1974 at Eureka Reformed Church. Charles took over the family homestead farm and also farmed for Richard Hoff. In the early 1980’s he stopped farming and they moved into Eureka. He began work at the Eureka Feed Mill at Eureka Elevator. In the late 1990’s he began working for North Central Farmers Elevator at the Java Elevator.
Charles enjoyed collecting toy motorcycles, toy tractors and baseball hats. He loved spending time with his grandchildren. They made many memories together making press pennies.
He was a member of Eureka Reformed Church and was a church Deacon.
Grateful for having shared Charles’s life are his wife, Marilyn, children, Tonya (Walter “Pat”) Johnson of West Fargo, ND, Tina (Dana) Boe of Hatton, ND and Troy (Amy) Neuharth of Tea, SD; brother, Paul (Elva) Neuharth of Minatare, NE and six grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother.
Honorary Casketbearers will be North Central Farmers Elevator Employees.
Casketbearers will be Bryce Turner, Dennis Ottenbacher, Ryan Aman, Dean Aman, Rodney Joachim and Ken Krause.
The family prefers memorials to Eureka local charities, American Cancer Society, Multiple Sclerosis Association of America or Alzheimer’s Association.
Carlsen Funeral Home of Eureka has been entrusted with arrangements.
