Amanda Orth of Lodi, passed away on June 3, 2009, in Lodi at the age of 79. Mrs. Orth was born in Eureka, South Dakota on November 16, 1929 to Edward and Adeline (Schnabel) Neuharth. In 1947, she married Walter Orth in the Reformed Faith Church in Eureka, South Dakota, and they lived on a farm near Herreid, South Dakota for twenty-one years. They sold their farm and moved to Lodi, California, October 13, 1967, where she has since resided. In 1990, Mrs. Orth retired from her house cleaning business in the Lodi area. After retiring, she volunteered at Lodi Loel Center, working with seniors and serving meals. She enjoyed sewing, quilting and traveling on bus trips to different parts of the United States. She was a member of Zion Reformed Church, having been active in the Sewing Circle. Mrs. Orth is survived by two sons: Gordon Orth of Lodi, Dale (Nan) Orth of Coulterville; four grandchildren, Kym Codallos, Kris Miller, Daniel Orth, Kimberly Orth; nine great-grandchildren, Steven, Louie, Ashley, Gideon, Mia, Max, Zoey, Devon and Donovan; two brothers, Milbert (Percy) Neuharth and Alfred (Laverne) Neuharth, both of Eureka, South Dakota. She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter David Orth on April 16, 1991, and two brothers, Alton and Floyd Neuharth. Friends are invited to visit Monday and Tuesday from 8:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Lodi Funeral Home. A chapel service will be held on Wednesday, June 10th, 10:00 a.m., at the funeral home. Committal will be private at Cherokee Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be made in Mrs. Orth's name to Zion Reformed Church, Sewing Circle, 105 S. Ham Lane, Lodi, CA 95242.
