Edwin Hieb, 75, Jamestown, North Dakota, died Thursday, October 9, 2008 at Jamestown Hospital.
Edwin "Ed" was born March 17, 1933 in Regan, ND, the son of Conrad and Martha (Bender) Hieb. He attended school in LaMoure, ND. On March 4,1953 Ed enlisted in the US Army and served in the Korean conflict. Upon his discharge on February 5, 1955 he returned to North Dakota. Ed married Loretta Niess on March 17, 1963 in Tappen, ND. They made their home in Jamestown where Ed worked at the North Dakota State Hospital for 32 years.
Ed was actively involved in fund raising for Relay for Life. Ed enjoyed deer hunting, tilling gardens & mowing lawns and blowing snow, watching pro wrestling and bullriding on television and sharing a cup of coffee with his many friends. He also participated in the Ft. Seward Wagon Train for many years. Ed is survived by his wife, Loretta, of Jamestown; four sons, Dean Lehrke, Liberty, KS, Todd (Geni) Hieb and Jerry (Monica) Hieb, both of Jamestown and Daren (Nicole) Hieb, Ypsilanti, ND; eleven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and six brothers and sisters, Alvina, Lorena, Fred, Elsie, Clayton and Melvin. He was preceded in death by his parents and six brothers and sisters, Walter, Esther, Hertha, George, Theodore (Ted), and John "Toby".
