Mrs. Martha Hieb, 68, of Jamestown, died Tuesday in Jamestown Hospital after having been in ill health the past several months.
Funeral services will be held Saturday at 10:30 a.m., in the Church of the Nazarene with Rev. Philip Riley and Rev. N.E. McCoy officiating. Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens cemetery. Eddy Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Born Sept. 5, 1906, in Burleigh County, North Dakota, Mrs. Hieb was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Bender Sr. She attended Burleigh County schools and lived in that community until 1939 when the family moved to Strausville in Sargent County. Her marriage to Conrad Hieb took place in Bottineau and he died Nov. 5, 1945. Mrs. Hieb moved to LaMoure in December, 1945, and had made her home in Jamestown since 1959. She was a member of the Jamestown Senior Citizens.
She is survived by eight children: George Hieb, Orem, Utah; Fred Hieb, and Edwin Hieb, Jamestown; Theodore Hieb, Aberdeen, S.D.; Mrs. Loren Trueblood (Elsie), Garrison; John Hieb, Minneapolis; Clayton Hieb, Grand Forks, and Melvin Hieb, Fargo; 38 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren; three brothers and four sisters: Adolph Bender, Lodi, Calif.; Jake Bender, Tacoma, Wash.; Edward Bender, LaHabra, Calif.; Mrs. Tillie Buffington, Rock Valley, Iowa; Mrs. Justine Ackerman, Spokane, Wash.; Mrs. Albert Ashley (Emma), Star, Ida., and Mrs. Lloyd Schroeder (Theresa), Bismarck; four step daughters: Mrs. Edmund Loebs (Esther), Aberdeen, S.D.; Mrs. Gordon Petersen (Alvina), Minneapolis; Mrs. Elmer Mayer (Hertha), Rosco, S.D., and Mrs. Clayton Pudwill (Lorena), Pasco, Wash. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one son, three brothers and one sister.
