- [S927] Obituary.
Kip Andrew Stoebner, beloved husband, cherished father, devoted son, brother and trusted friend journeyed peacefully to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on September 5, 2013. Kip was born June 23, 1950 in Lodi, California, firstborn son of Clarence Stoebner and Patsy (Sjoblom) Stoebner.
Kip attended local schools and graduated from Lodi Union High in 1968 before attending and graduating from University of California at Davis with a degree in Plant Science. All through his youth Kip was active in sports including tennis, cross-country and skiing. In college, Kip played intramural soccer and was one of the first youth soccer coaches in Lodi.
Adventurous and well-traveled, Kip spent time in his twenties working at a fish cannery on Kodiak Island, on an oil rig in Houston, Texas, at a dude ranch in Wyoming, as a ski lift operator in Austria, in a vineyard in Germany, forming many life-long friendships along the way.
Athletic and energetic, Kip enjoyed downhill and cross-country skiing, tennis, rock climbing and running throughout his lifetime. He was a member and past President of Young Farmers. Kip enjoyed attending Westside Assembly with his family where he and his wife were active in Bible study and prayer ministry.
Kip's passion was working in nature and some of his happiest times were spent with a shovel in his hands. He established a vineyard with his father as well as one of his own. He spent time as a grower relations representative for Glen Ellen Winery after which he and his wife, Rosemary, developed a landscaping business together.
Kip considered the most important accomplishment of his life the adoption of his precious daughter Katherine and delivering another child, Whitney, to her American adopted family in Utah.
Kip is proceeded in death by his father Clarence Stoebner. He is survived by his loving wife, Rosemary Stoebner and their daughter Katherine Ann Stoebner of Lodi; mother Patsy Hunrick and step-father George Hunrick of Woodbridge; his three sisters, Kerry Stoebner (Christopher Katzenbach) of Mill Valley, Beth Stoebner (David Worfolk) of Lodi and Sue Stoebner of Santa Cruz.
Kip was greatly encouraged and appreciative of visitors over the past two years, but especially grateful to his brother-in-law, Dr. Ron Rott for his companionship and support.
Kip will be dearly missed by all who knew him and especially by those who loved him.
A celebration of Kip Andrew Stoebner's life will be held Friday, October 18, 2013 at 2:00 pm at Westside Assembly, 75 N. Crescent, Lodi, California. Reception to follow at 703 W. Pine Street, Lodi, California.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that contributions be made in Kips' name to one of the following organizations:
