Herman Korff (12.15.04) <http://www.sanmarcosrecord.com/obituaries/>back to top Herman Korff, 81, of San Marcos, passed away on Monday, Dec. 13, 2004. He was born in Yoakum on March 27, 1923, to H.W. and Katherine (Steiner) Korff.A longtime resident of San Marcos since 1926, Mr. Korff owned the Suttles Furniture Company and was the director of the State Bank of San Marcos for 30 years. He served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II, in Europe from 1944 to 1946, and fought in the Battle of the Bulge as a member of the 87th Infantry Division's Golden Acorns with General Patton's 3rd U.S. Army.He was a member of the Sons of Hermann, he served on the City Council from 1957 to 1962 and he served as chairman of the Urban Renewal Board for three years. He was also a deacon in the First Presbyterian Church and a life member of the Texas Lions Camp. Herman traveled extensively, studied and read history, and was particularly interested in World War II information. Riding motorcycles was another of his favorite hobbies.His parents preceded him in death. He is survived by his daughters, Susie Korff of Hondo, Kathy Adams and husband, Ron of Sugarland, and Kaela Dingle and husband, Casey of Austin; grandchildren, Jason Adams and wife, Chantae, Matthew Adams, Rain Gilbert, Skye Gilbert, Taylor Wingo and Tristyn Wingo; and great-grandchildren, Kody Baldwin and Connor Adams; and by the mother of his children, Charlene Korff.Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Central Texas Medical Center, 1345 Thorpe Lane, San Marcos, Texas 78666.A Celebration of Life Service will be held 2 p.m. Friday, Dec. 17 at Pennington Memorial Chapel.Private interment will take place in the Masonic Cemetery in Gonzales.Arrangements under the care and guidance of Pennington Funeral Home, San Marcos, TX, 353-4311.
