Birth: 1926 Death: Oct. 17, 2012 John Christman, 86, passed away on October 17, 2012. He resided in Akron for over 50 years. He was a member of Emmanuel United Church of Christ and retired from Pepsi Cola after many years of service. John was preceded in death by his wife, Arlene, of 62 years. Survivors include son, Nelson (Linda), of Tallmadge; daughter, Donna (Harry) Kinser, of Opelika, Alabama; grandchildren, Elaine (Larry) Penn, of Uniontown, Michael (Megan) Kinser, of Auburn, AL, Jason Kinser, of Opelika, AL, John (Sarah) Christman, of Tallmadge, Jennifer (Roy) Christman, of Akron, Jill Wegner, of Tallmadge; great-grandchildren, Trevor Potts, of North Carolina, Malorie Bates, of Akron, Cale Kinser, of Auburn, AL, Ally Kinser, of Opelika, AL, Joshua Wegner, of Tallmadge, Cheyenne Penn, of Uniontown, and Kayleigh Kinser, of Auburn, AL; brother, Clayton Christman, of Woodsfield; many nieces and nephews; close friends, Fritz Burkhart, Don Crum, Harry Drechsler. He will be dearly missed by family and friends. Calling hours will be Friday, 5-8 p.m. and Saturday, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME, 131 N. Canton Rd., Akron, where a funeral service will be held Saturday at 1 p.m. Interment to follow at Hillside Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
