Sylvan John "Sip" Adolph
Sylvan John "Sip" Adolph, 83, of Hartville passed away Wednesday, April 10, 2013, after a brief illness. Sylvan was born in Randolph, Ohio, on December 17, 1929, to the late Joseph and Petronella (Wise) Adolph.
He was a Korean War Army Veteran who retired from CSX Transportation in 1990 after 41 years of service. Sylvan was a member of Sacred Heart of Mary Catholic Church. He enjoyed woodworking, golfing, playing cards and spending time with his grandchildren.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 35 years, Roseen, on September 5, 1993; brothers, Joseph, Edmund, Ray, Alban, Paul, Robert and Clement; and sisters, Florence Hoff, Marcella Aman, Alice McCoy, Helen VanLehn and Clara Rudis.
He is survived by his children, Michael (Christine) and Kristine Baker (Andy); and grandchildren, Andrew, Nicholas, and Sophia Adolph, and Aiden and Juliana Baker; and numerous relatives and friends.
Friends may call Sunday from 3-6 PM at Arnold Funeral Home, Hartville. A mass of Christian Burial will be Monday at 10 AM at Sacred Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Harrisburg with Rev. Fr. Nicholas Mancini celebrant. Final resting place is the church cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Sacred Heart of Mary Catholic Church.
