Bernard L. (Bud) Michel, age 78, of North Canton, died Saturday in Aultman Hospital after a two year illness. Born in Louisville, he was a life resident of the Canton area. He was a retired carpenter and a member of Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church. He was a World War II Army Air Force Veteran. Preceded in death by his wives, Virginia M. (Meyer) Michel and Mary E. (Robertson) Michel, a sister, Jane Cuenot, and two brothers, Theodore and Norbert Michel. Survived by five daughters and three sons-in-law, Ann and Barry Coplan of Stow, OH, Rebecca and Warren Gillis of Coral Springs, FL, Cynthia Michel of Canton, Linda Arquilla of Plano, TX, and Marilyn and Lonny Weatherspoon of Alliance; five sons and daughters-in-law, Dennis C. and Mikki Michel of Toledo, John P. and Margaret Michel of Hartville, Andrew L. and Thuy Michel of Westerville, OH, Steven (Red) and Wendy Michel of Kent, and Matthew J. and Diane Michel of Pataskala, OH; 15 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; three step-daughters and sons-in-law, Diane and Warren Grabner of Mt. Vernon, OH, Betty and Pete Van Norman of Bradenton, FL, and Jan and John Benner of Canton; six step-grandchildren; three step-great-grandchildren; sister and brother-in-law, Miriam and Robert Schillig of Port Clinton; eight brothers and seven sisters-in-law, Virgil and Mickey Michel, Richard and Jackie Michel, and Terrence and Joyce Michel all of Louisville, Thomas and Lucy Michel of Carrollton, Robert Michel and Charles and Gerri Michel all of N. Canton, Vincent and Carolyn Michel of Minerva, and Mark and Charlene Michel of Canton. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Tuesday at 10 a.m. in Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church with Fr. John Nentwick as celebrant. Private burial in Calvary Cemetery. Friends may call Monday from 5-8 p.m. at the Lamiell Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Sancta Clara Monastery.
