She had been a long-time resident of Nampa, beginning with childhood summer visits with her grandparents in the early 1920s. Born to Arthur Emert Ellis and Alta Merle (Ferguson) Ellis on Nov. 29, 1912, in Walla Walla, Washington, Marjorie was joined five years later by brother Paul Arthur Ellis, now deceased. Her mother died in 1921, and in 1923 her father married Veva Verna (McGrew). Two daughters were born to this marriage: . . . . Following graduation from high school, Marjorie became a permanent Nampa resident, where she completed business college. Prior to her marriage, she worked for Caxton Printers in Caldwell, and also at the statehouse in Boise. She met her future, Harold Clark Miles, while attending a Methodist young people's group. They were engaged on Harold's birthday, June 30, and married on Marjorie's birthday, Nov. 29, 1940. During their 61 years of marriage, they worked closely as a team, owning and operating Miles News Agency, Idaho Sundries Supply, and M&E Wholesale Supply Co. They also managed numerous rental properties in Nampa. Marjorie was an active member of the First United Methodist Church and its Rachel Circle. She also was a member of the Nampa Woman's Century Club, where she was recently honored for her 67 years of service. She was an officer and historian for the club's Shumia Department. Both she and her husband were members of the Golden Eagle Audubon Society and the Southwest Idaho Birders Association. As a descendent of Washington Territory pioneers, Marjorie became an avid family history researcher. Her research revealed many interesting facts relating to her family lineage and their passage to the Oregon Territory wilderness. The book "Train of Innocents" by Everell Cummins tells the story of the Kennedy Wagon Train of 1862, which included her ancestors, and was the biggest group to travel the Oregon Trail to Washington. In 2005 she was an honored guest at a reunion for descendents of that train, which was held at the End of the Trail in Baker City, OR. She was directly related to eight different family lines that moved west with that group. She was accompanied at the reunion by her son, David Clark Miles of Rochester, N.Y. Marjorie and her wonderful sense of humor will be greatly missed by those who loved her. She is survived by her son, . . . , and her two half-sisters. Viewing will be from 4 to 7 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 31 at the Nampa Funeral Home, Yraguen Chapel, 415 12th Ave. So., Nampa. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 1, at the Nampa Funeral Home, Yraguen Chapel. Burial will follow in the Kohlerlawn Cemetery, 76 6th St. N., Nampa. After the burial, friends and relatives are invited to a reception at the Woman's Century Clubhouse, 1624 2nd St. S., Nampa. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Memorial Fund of the First United Methodist Church, 2717 12th Ave. Rd., Nampa, ID 83686; or to the Scholarship Fund of the Woman's Century Club, c/o Beth Hogan, 1323 E.
