Clifford Fender, 74, Hayden Lake, died Monday, Jan. 2, 1989, at Kootenai Medical Center.
He was born July 3, 1914, in Prescott, Wash., to Clifford and Nola [sic] Fender. He was raised in Prescott and Twin Falls. In 1932 he moved to Coeur d'Alene and graduated from Coeur d'Alene High School. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He worked at Ohio Match in Coeur d'Alene from 1948 to 1957. In 1957 he moved to the Los Angeles area where he was the line manager for General Motor Parts Division. He retired in 1971 and moved back to Coeur d'Alene.
He was past president of the Coeur d'Alene Lions Club and the Coeur d'Alene Junior Chamber of Commerce. He was active in the Coeur d'Alene Elks Club. He was a member of the American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
He enjoyed hunting and fishing and was an amateur carpenter.
Survivors include sons . . . [two] and daughter . . . ; brother Jack Fender of Roseburg, Ore., sister Joy Ann Dury of Sparks, Nev.; seven grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held 1 p.m. Friday at Coeur d'Alene Memorial Gardens. Memorial contributions may be sent to the Idaho Lung Association, 2621 Camas St., Boise 83705. Coeur d'Alene Memorial chapel is in charge of arrangements.
