Published: Friday, March 6, 2009 11:49 PM CSTPriscilla Elizabeth Heckenlaible, age 78, of Menno, SD, died unexpectedly at her home early Friday, March 6, 2009.Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m., Monday, March 9, 2009, at Salem Reformed Church, Menno, with Rev. Michael Hecht officiating.Burial will be in the Menno Cemetery. Visitations will be 2 to 5 p.m., Sunday, at the Aisenbrey-Opsahl-Kostel Funeral Chapel, Menno, and then one hour prior to the service at the church.Pallbearers will be Roger Heckenlaible, Robert Heckenlaible, Darius Mettler, Bill Headley, Leland Wiedmeier, Alton Mettler and Willard Kirschenman.Priscilla was born January 27, 1931, on the family farm near Menno, SD, to Edward and Elizabeth (Stoebner) Mettler and attended rural school through the eighth grade. She was baptized March 29, 1931, and later confirmed on June 17, 1945, by Rev. Korn at the Kassel Reformed Church, rural Menno, SD. Priscilla married Raymond Heckenlaible on November 23, 1961. She was a homemaker and loving mother who loved to babysit children and enjoyed talking about her two wonderful granddaughters. She loved being outside doing gardening and yard work. She was known for being a wonderful cook and also loved to bake. She was a member of Salem Reformed Church, Menno, and the ladies aid.Her memory will be cherished by her husband Ray of Menno and one son Philip (Elisa) Heckenlaible of Sioux Falls, SD. Two granddaughters Amber and Laura Heckenlaible of Sioux Falls, SD and one brother Reno Mettler of Menno, SD. She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother LeRoy.*Yankton Press & Dakotan
