Edington, 81, passed away peacefully in his sleep at his home after a lengthy illness. Services will be Sunday, Jan. 11, at 2 p.m. at Shreve United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Bill Lawson officiating. Family and friends will gather for a luncheon following the service at the church. Interment services for the family will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery. Friends may call Saturday, Jan. 10, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the church. Schlabach Funeral Home in Shreve is handling arrangements. The family suggests contributions be made to Hospice & Palliative Care of Wayne County, 2525 Back Orrville Road, Wooster 44691. Ralph was born Dec. 16, 1927, in Millersburg to George and Maude (Bott) Edington and married Jeannette Haskew on March 24, 1950. She survives. He began working at the Farm Bureau's Shreve Mill, where he became manager. He had been owner/operator of Shreve Hardware since 1959, where he never retired. He was a member and past president of Shreve Business Association and Shreve Lions Club. He had served on Shreve Village Council and was a member of Shreve Garfield Masonic Lodge 528 F & AM. Surviving in addition to his wife, are children, Nancy J. (Curt Crocker) Hamilton of Wooster and Richard (Cynthia) Edington of Shreve; grandchildren, Mitchell and Mallory Hamilton, Carli, Daniel and Sarah Edington; sisters, Wilma Yockey of Shreve, Dora Lee (Forest) Yockey of Wooster and Donna Marie Ackerman of Shreve; brothers, Raymond (Donna) Edington of Shreve and Roy (Donna) Edington of Wooster; and a life long friend, Jack Ellsworth of North Canton. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Denver and Guy Edington; and a sister, Ruth Baker.
