Mr. William Harry Moss, 91, of Thurmont, died on Thursday morning, April 20, 2006, at the Frederick Memorial Hospital. He was the husband of Louise Hauver Moss.
Born at Yellow Springs, May 5, 1914, Mr. Moss was a son of the late William Henry and Lilly Harris Moss.
Mr. Moss served in California as a member of the United States Navy during World War II. He had been employed for many years with the United States Post Office as a rural letter carrier, retiring in the early 1970s.
He was a member of the Woodsboro American Legion, Post #282.
Surviving, in addition to his wife, are two sons, James H. Moss, of Gapland, and Richard William Moss, of Thurmont; one daughter, Rebecca L. Smithson and her husband, Lew, of Yorktown, Va.; two grandchildren, James Morgan Smithson and Allen Smithson, both of Yorktown, Va.; and a number of nieces, nephews and cousins. He was the last of his immediate family.
The family will receive friends at the Keeney and Basford Funeral Home, the Trail Mansion, 106 East Church Street, on Sunday, April 23, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Monday, April 24, at 10 a.m., from the funeral home. Interment will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Frederick, Md.
