Marie came to america in Sept 1893 to avoid an arranged marriage setup by her father who owned a lumber business. She was the secretary for the lumber firm, and ended up getting passage through a business connection.
Marie came to america at age 20yrs, 11mos. She was the mother of 8 children, 4 girls and 4 boys. Two step daughters, 40 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren. Children were: Theresa Marie, Anna Aline, Helen, Ruth. Leo, Christphor, Joe, (4) died. Step daughters; Elizabeth, Margarett. Marie's grandfather was mayor of Dambach, his last name was DeFosset.
