- [S8] Information from an informant - Auskunft eines Informanten - Information d'un informateur.
Hello Ursula:It was a pleasure to receive your email and a thrill to find
your web site. I had heard that my great grandfather's family was
French and German in origin but never knew any of the specifics. I had
given up hope of being able to find anything on the internet but recently
typed in his name and was taken to a site called Findagrave.com. It is
a site that appears to get some sponsorship from Ancestry.com but is free
to use. The site is filled with pictures of headstones (taken by
volunteers) with any available information about the deceased.
Sure enough, there was a picture of his headstone along with dates and a
place of birth and death. Through that information, I stumbled on your
web site. I do have a few other pieces of information I can provide based
on the Findagrave web site and newspaper clippings. The site says that his
date of birth was 26 June 1876 in Woodsfield, Monroe County, Ohio and an
obituary that I found online says he was aged 87 when he died. He was
married to my great grandmother Marie Edesse Mallette Hoeffler, (born
Salmon River, Digby County, Nova Scotia Canada, on 21 June 1878) on 19
August 1906 in Omaha Nebraska. They had 4 children -- Rosalie Hoeffler
Hasley born 4 October, 1907 in Spokane, Washington. Died 16 September,
2013 Fort Wayne, Indiana. My grandfather Clement Louis Hoeffler, Jr. (who
also went by Louis) born 11 February 1909 (probably in Ellensburg,
Washington) and died 4 January, 1990 in Everett Washington. Marie Edesse
Hoeffler Johnson Seattle, Washington no available dates. John Mallett
Hoeffler born 20 January, 1916 (probably Everett, Washington) died 18 June
1933. My grandfather, Clement Louis Hoeffler, Jr. married Lillian B.
Schreiber Hoeffler (born February 1911 in Krefeld, Germany) died 24
December, 1986. They were married May 30, 1936 (not sure of the
location.) They had two biological children -- John Schreiber
Hoeffler born 1937 and died November 1981 (Seattle, Washington) My mother
Barbara Hoeffler Requa. You and your husband have done an incredible job
compiling such a comprehensive data base. If you have any other
information about the original Louis (Ludwig) such as when he immigrated
to the US, I would be very grateful for it. With much appreciation,Deborah
Brandt
