Message: I am just starting on my father's side. We know his father is John Francis b. 11-24-1909 d. 11-24-1973. His father was Joseph. My grandmother was Helen Jeanette (young) Holzinger b. 09-11-1915 d.2-20-1999. That's all the info I have. Would be grateful for anything.

OBITUARY:
Obituary* 26 November 1973 His obituary stated: "John F. Holzinger, 64, died at 10:30 p.m. Saturday at Huntington Memorial Hospital, after a servious illness of nine days. He had been in failing health for several years. Mr. Holzinger was a painter and interior decorator by trade and was an employe of the True Value Hardware Store. He was a member of SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church and the Holy Name Society. Born in Huntington County, Nov. 10, 1909, to Joseph and Anna Wehr, his marriage was to Helen Young in SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, in 1933, who survives. Other survivors include two sons, William Holzinger, Leavenworth, kans. and John Holzinger, Jr. at home, two daughters, Mrs. Rex (Virginia) Maranda, Huntington and Mrs. Donald (Marjorie) Schoeff, Van Buren, 11 grandchildren, three brothers, Paul Holzinger, Midland, Mich., Joseph Holzinger, this city and Richard Holzinger, Fort Wayne, six sisters, Mrs. Leo (Katherine) Buck, Bradenton, Fla., Mrs. Cliff (Mary) Cunningham, Fort Wayne, Mrs. Cecil (Ann) Moore, Midland, Mich., Mrs. Charles (Dorothy) Denzel, Midland, Mich., Mrs. Marie McCready, California and Mrs. Rose Miles, Richmond. Two sisters preceded him in death. Friends may call 2 to 4 p.m. and from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday and Tuesday at the Merckx Funeral Home, where recitation of the rosary will be at 7:45 p.m. Tuesday. Funeral services will be at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church with Rev. Lawrence Gollner officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery." A later notice stated: "Funeral services for John F. Holzinger were held at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church with Rev. Lawrence Gollner officiating. Pall bearers were Robert Holzinger, Gerald Holzinger, Larry Holzinger, John G. Myers, Robert Hartle and George Humphrey. Burial was in Mr. Calvary Cemetery and Merckx Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements."1

Message: "Obituary courtesy of the News-Banner Publications, posted with permission." Bluffton News-Banner, February 22, 1999 Helen Jeanette Holzinger, 83 Mother of John F. Holzinger Jr. of Ossian, Helen Jeanette Holzinger, 83, died Sunday at Community Care Center in Huntington. A native of Huntington, she worked in production at Triad-Utrad in Huntington, retiring in 1980. Her husband, John Sr., died in 1973. Surviving, addition to the son at Ossian, are two daughters, Virginia Salge and Marjorie Millican, both of Huntington; another son, William J. of San Jose, Calif.; two brothers, J. Frederick Young of Frankfort and William F. Young of Crown Point; a sister, Marjorie Hunsinger of Largo, Fla.; 12 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren. A funeral mass was conducted at 10 a.m. today at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Huntington and burial was in Mount Calvary Cemetery at Huntington. Memorials to the church. Hart Funeral Home in Huntington was in charge of arrangements.
