Joan's maternal grandmother's parents were from Böllenborn. They were George "Peter" Ackermann and Catharina Hasslauer. Some other spousal lines from the Böllenborn/Birkenhördt area were Wein, Millein, Borell, Boos, Schafer and Dries. The Ackermanns were originally from Lingenfeld. We have traced them back to the early 1600's. They moved to Birkenhördt in the late 1700's and then to Böllenborn. Bill and Joan

Came to the United States in 1870-71. He was a naturalized citizen. Could not find him in these years in the Germans to America series. Family legend says that Peter Ackerman and Georg Hasslauer were friends and traveled to the USA together, but this is not proven yet. The Ramstedts
have a very old original picture of Peter Ackerman and Georg Hasslauer sitting side-by-side as young men. According to a 1902 map of Chili, G.P. Ackerman had 22 acres of land.

Catharine Ackerman's parents were George "Peter" Ackerman and Catharina Hasslauer who had immigrated from Boellenborn, Germany in the early 1870s. Peter Ackerman and Catherine's family settled on adjacent farms near the village of Scottsville, New York. Catherine's ancestry has been traced back six generations to Joannes Ackermann and his wife Maria Magdalena who lived in Lingenfeld, Pfalz. Joannes was born about 1635.
