Robert M. Day
MOUNT VERNON ? Robert Michael Day, 82, of Upper Fredericktown Road, Mount Vernon, passed away Sunday morning, Feb. 25, 2007, at his residence surrounded by his loving family.
He was born on March 9, 1924, in Mount Vernon, a son of the late Cale and Daisy (Stoffel) Day. Robert was a retired machinist and supervisor for Cooper Cameron. He was also a member of the Gay Street United Methodist Church in Mount Vernon, the Mount Zion Lodge 9 of the Free and Accepted Masons in Mount Vernon for 50 years, the Valley of Columbus, Scottish Rite, and the Aladdin Shrine in Columbus. Robert was a Navy veteran of World War II serving in the Pacific.
Robert is survived by his devoted wife, Irene (Keever) Day, whom he married on July 6, 1946; daughters, Cynthia Sue (John) Holmes of Richmond, Va., and Rebecca (Robert) Day-Skowron of Franktown, Colo.; grandchildren, Jonathan Keever Holmes, Christopher Asher Holmes, Nicolette Kathleen Skowron and Michael Grey Skowron.
In addition to his parents; he was preceded in death by a son, Michael Robert Day; brothers, Richard and Herbert Day; and a sister, Frances (Floyd) Ellis.
The family will have a private graveside service in the Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens with military graveside services provided by the Knox County Joint Veterans Council. The Dowds-Snyder Funeral Home in Mount Vernon is caring for the family with these arrangements.
