Arthur P. (Shorty) Monter, age 66, of 8436 Easton ST., NE, Louisville was pronounced dead on arrival at Timken-Mercy Hospital Friday afternoon [28 Sep 1973] following a short illness.Born in Harrisburg, O., August 9, 1907 to the late Charles and Matilda Moulin Monter, he lived in the Louisville area all his life. A retired farmer, he had worked for some years at the old Superior Sheet Steel Co. of Louisville. He was a member of the Sacred Heart of Mary Catholic Church of Harrisburg and the Catholic Order of Foresters Court No. 1831.Survivors include his wife, Irene (Zwick) Monter of the home; three daughters, Mrs. Leo (Marilyn) Parola, Jr. of Transfer, Penn., Mrs. Robert Elodie Bryan Jr. of Louisville, and Mrs. William (Linda) Rittberger of Canton; two sons, George Monter of Acton, Mass. And William Monter of Louisville; three sisters, Mrs. Blanche Berger and Mrs. Mary Chenevey, both of Alliance, and Mrs. Margaret Brahler of Louisville; two brothers, Lawrence Monter of Cuyahoga Falls, and Herbert Monter of Alliance; 16 grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial was held Monday at 10 AM in the Sacred Heart of Mary Catholic Church at Harrisburg, with burial in the church cemetery. Friends called at the Paquelet Funeral Home Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM, Catholic Order of Foresters held services Sunday evening at 9 PM.
