THE BOWDLE PIONEER April 7, 1994 BARBARA B. HOFF Barbara B. Hoff, age 85 of Aberdeen, died Thursday, March 24, 1994 at the Bethesda Home in Aberdeen. Funeral services were held Monday, March 28, at the Fist Presbyterian Church, Aberdeen with the Rev. Bill Anderson officiating. Burial followed in Sunset Memorial Gardens, Aberdeen, under the direction of Miller-Huebl Funeral Home of Aberdeen. Barbara Bertha Benz was born Dec. 6, 1908 in Long Lake to John and Christina (Brandner) Bentz. She grew up and attended rural school in the Danzig, N.D., area. She married Emil M. Hoff on Jan. 12, 1928 in Eureka. They made their home on the Hoff homestead and farmed there until 1951. Together and they owned and operated restaurants in Eureka and Bowdle known as Hoff's Cafe. In 1958 they moved to Aberdeen where Mr. Hoff was a contractor. He died April 29, 1988 at Aberdeen and Barbara Hoff continued to make Aberdeen her home. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Aberdeen. She is survived by four daughters: Priscilla Pfeifle of Aberdeen; Salonia Wendt of Largo, Fla..; Katherine Undlin of Las Vegas, Nev. and Shirley Bucholz of Gillette, Wyo.; two brothers: Edmund Bentz of Ashley, N.D. and ElRoy Bentz of San Jose, Cal.; five sisters: Emma Mohr of Bylas, Az.; Ida Horning of Hawthorne, CA; Edna Mattax of W. Sacramento, Ca.; Lydia Schnable of Eureka and Glendora Klein of Circle, Mt.; 11 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband in 1988, three infant sons, one infant daughter, two sisters and two brothers.
