Mary Rose Voellinger
Mary Rose Voellinger, nee Drone, 86, of Swansea, IL, born September 19, 1920, in Belleville, IL, died Sunday, April 22, 2007, at her daughter's residence. Mrs. Voellinger was a member of St. Mary's Parish, Belleville, IL, and the Ladies Sodality at St. Mary's. She was also a member of the Daughters of Isabella and the Catholic War Veterans Auxiliary. Mary Rose was preceded in death by her first husband, Elmer Schaefer, who died in 1944; her parents, Edward and Rose, nee Bahl, Drone; four brothers, Edgar Joseph Drone, Father Paul Drone, Sylvester Drone, and John Drone; and two sisters, Sister Mary Urban (Clara Drone), and Celia Stuart. She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Clarence "Bud" Voellinger, whom she married May 29, 1948; three daughters and two sons, Patricia Schaefer of Salt Lake City, UT, Barbara Titter of Vail, CO, Richard (Milla) Voellinger of Fort Myers, FL, Jan (John) Rule of Belleville, IL, and William (Tammy) Voellinger of Licking, MO; thirteen grandchildren, Matthew Becherer, Jill Heaps, George, Dan, and Milla Rose Voellinger, Jason, Nicole, Jared, Joshua, and Tiffany Williams, and Jennifer, Kimberly, and Ashleigh Voellinger; two step-grandchildren, Dan and Tim Rule; two great-grandchildren, Madison Rose and Jayci; a sister, Jeanette Schiermeier of Twin Falls, ID; and many nieces and nephews. We have been exhorted to let our light shine so that people will know God through us. "Mosie" was such a light and God's gift to Bud. She was his constant companion, nurturer, supporter, and faithful fishing buddy. She was the endearing mother of five children and "Mom" to anyone else in need of love, gentleness, or a full belly. Grandma is remembered tenderly for her popcorn, her Sunday hamburgers, and "sits" on her lap. She was a fabulous cook and seamstress and well known for her contagious giggle. Mary Rose will forever shine through the laughter of her children, the scent of roses, and the warmth of our sun. Shine on, Mom! Memorials may be made to the Stella Wagner Endowment Fund at St. Mary's. Condolences may be expressed to the family online at www.rennerfh.com.
