- [S927] Obituary.
Ray Beringer, 78, of Economy Borough, passed away Thursday morning, July 26, 2018, at UPMC Passavant, McCandless. Born May 6, 1940, he was a son of Earl R. and Blanche Yvonne (Adamek) Beringer of Monaca where he lived his childhood years. Following high school graduation in 1958, he continued his education at Geneva College majoring in civil engineering. Ray had a strong affinity for nature, enthusiastically taking on outdoor and sporting activities as skiing the groomed downhill trails or hiking every one of the U.S. National Parks with the Grand Canyon being one of his favorites. His passion for the outdoors and exploring included traveling the world with his wife, Glenda. Ray was an avid golfer and was a hockey fan long before it was ?cool.? Ray made a career with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. As the Chief of Regulatory Branch, he served as the project manager for the Kinzua Dam Project. Following his retirement in 1997 and not one to be idle, Ray gained a part time job with the Manheim Auto Auction in Cranberry Township. As a young man, Ray served in the National Guard?s Company B. He leaves his high school sweet heart and wife of 53 years, Glenda K. Miller Beringer; two children, Heather Beringer of Cranberry Township and Eric Beringer and his wife, Carrie of New Sewickley Township; four grandchildren, Sydney and Caden Beringer and Ashley and Emily Linton; and two brothers-in-law, Spike Miller of New Brighton and Don Miller of Monaca. In addition to his parents, Ray was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Amy. Friends will be received on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. until the time of his memorial service at 8 p.m. in the SIMPSON FUNERAL & CREMATION SERVICES, 1119 Washington Ave., Monaca, (724) 728-4000. The Reverend Deborah Huffmyer will officiate. The family has suggested memorial contributions may be made, if desired, in Ray?s name to the National Parks Service.
