Michael R. Urlacher, 75, New England, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 14, 2018 at the Knife River Care Center, Beulah. Mike’s Mass of Christian Burial will be at 9 a.m., Monday, February 19, 2018 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, New England with Fr. Gary Benz as celebrant. Interment will follow at St. Helen’s Cemetery, south of New England. Visitation will be Saturday, 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Ladbury Funeral Service and on Sunday from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. There will be a rosary and vigil at 3 p.m., Sunday at the church with Deacon Victor Dvorak presiding.
Michael R. Urlacher was born August 6, 1942 on the family farm in Hettinger County to Philip and Otilia (Messer) Urlacher, the fourth of seven children. He met the love of his life, Angie Olheiser in 1964 at a wedding dance where he swept her off her feet. They were married October 18, 1966. They lived on the farm south of New England where they raised six exceptional and funny kids.
In 1980, they moved to New England where Mike worked at New England Public School and continued to farm until 2002. In 2015 he moved to a care center in Beulah. Mike is known for his deep love of family and sense of humor. He enjoyed farming and working in his shop creating gadgets of his own design.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Angie; six children, Mike (Teresa) Urlacher, Dee Ann (Trevor) Dorner, Jo Ann Urlacher, Linda (Bob) Striebel, Sandra (Kurt a.k.a. Kirk) Dutchuk, and Keith (Robyn) Urlacher; nine grandkids, Makenna, Josh, Ben, Katelyn, Maren, Dawson, Madalyn, Mason and Karli; two brothers, Philip (Clem) Urlacher, and Jake (Lynelle) Urlacher; three sisters, Maggie Kathrein, Ann (Marvin) Wert, and Jean (Dan) Zastoupil; brother-in-law, Art Wolfe; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; infant daughter, Carol Ann; grandson, Noah; sister, Marie Wolfe; and brother-in-law, Joe Kathrein.
