Scherer, 82, lifelong resident of Richland county, died Monday afternoon at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Ora Anderson in Claremont township.Mr. Scherer was born in Richland county, December 30, 1858 and for thirty years was treasurer of the school district in which he resided.He is survived by five children, Mrs. William Cowman, Mrs. Ora Anderson, Joel Scherer, Arthur Scherer and Alfred Scherer, all of Olney, and three sisters, Mrs. Elizabeth Buss of Olney; Mrs. Harriett Miller of West Salem and Mrs Anna Koertge of Midland, Mich.The body was removed to the Porter-Schaub Funeral Home and services were conducted Wednesday afternoon at St. James Lutheran church with Rev. N.J. Dechant officiating.
