Terrance J. "Terry" Laux, of Freeport, passed away on the morning of Tuesday, Jan. 29, 2013, at Good Samaritan Hospice in Cabot, after a long battle with a rare blood disease. Terry was born Jan. 14, 1963, to the late Rosemary E (Kovach) and Francis R. "Bob" Laux, of Freeport. Terry was a member of St. Mary's Roman Catholic church in Freeport and a 1981 graduate of Freeport area high school. Terry enjoyed reading and loved the outdoors. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. Terry's true passion was nature and herpetology. He loved sharing his knowledge with others. He was an Envirothon co-advisor at Freeport High School advising students on environmental projects. He participated in many environmental projects, including Frogwatch where he helped make Buffalo Watershed an important bird area. He shared his love of reptiles and nature by putting on presentations in many communities. Terry was the loving husband of Tammy (Tindall) Laux for 20 years and father to their two sons, Tyler and Tristan Laux, of Freeport; his brother, Dan (Crystal) Laux, of Ford City; his two sisters, Mary Jo (Jim) Monroe, of Baldwin, and Audra (Lenny) Rea, of Freeport; and a brother-in-law, Charles Tindall, of Natrona Heights. He is also survived by 10 nieces and nephews; and one great-nephew. Terry was preceded in death by his mother, Rosemary; his maternal and paternal grandparents; as well as his in-laws, Charles and Mardianne Tindall. Family and friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Feb. 1, 2013, at the REDMOND FUNERAL HOME INC., 524 High St., Freeport. Parish wake service will be conducted in the funeral home on Friday evening. A parting prayer service will be held at 9:30 a.m. Saturday ,Feb. 2, 2013, in the funeral home that will be followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at St. Mary, Mother of God Church, in Freeport at St. Mary, Mother of God Church, Freeport, with Father Edward Volz officiating
Terry has touched many lives and will be missed by all and in lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made to; www.giveforward.com/rockforterry to help his family with final expenses.
