Max was born on November 25, 1928 in Cuba, IL, son of the late Ralph and Stella Swise Moore. He married Sandra Roehm who after 16 happy and rewarding years passed due to a kidney transplant. He would eventually then go on to marry Marilyn Miester of Peoria. Max and his family enjoyed frequent trips to Florida to visit “second family” friends and relatives.
Max served in the armed forces at the foot of Mt. Fuji in Japan, during the Korean War.
He met and spoke to Ted Williams and John Glenn on one of his transports. Max was also a graduate of Far East Command Baseball Umpires’ School.
Retiring in 1994, Max worked as an Electrician at Hiram Walkers and District 150 for over 42 years and a member of Local 34 IBEW.
Max was an avid sports enthusiast participating from childhood and up, and was always a big fan. He wore proudly the SF Giants hat and garnered whatever memorabilia when possible. He could be found with his brother and family in Milwaukee or St. Louis on any given weekend taking in a game. Friends and neighbors always remember the backyard baseball games where Max's backyard was the infield and many “hotboxes” took place. He also had a horseshoe pit there and won many local competitions. As of late, he had enjoyed local girls’ softball games as well.
He was a big proponent of the 5 Points fitness club where he swam and lifted weights nearly every day except weekends and was highlighted as member of the month alumni in 2016.
Max will truly be missed by his loved ones and those who saw him every day!
