EDWIN E. LEACH, 76, of Lompoc, passed away Tuesday, March 28, 2006 in Santa Barbara. Ed was born on Nov. 13, 1929 in Peoria, Ill. to Paschal and Elizabeth Downey Leach. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and the Korean War. Ed moved to Lompoc in 1967 from Santa Maria and was employed for 33 years as an air conditioning technician retiring in 1991 from Lockheed-Martin Corporation. He was a member of the Lockheed-Martin Vandenberg Retirees Association and held life memberships in Lompoc Elks Lodge 2274,
American Legion Post 211, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1717 and the National Rifle Association. Ed was an avid trap and skeet shooter and, in his earlier years, enjoyed bird hunting.
Survivors include his wife of 37 years, Nioma "Nicki" Leach of Lompoc, son, Larry Leach of Carson City, Nev., daughters, Susan Feazell of Palm Springs, Calif. and Carie Chagnon of Bountiful, Utah, step-daughters, Marcia Conklin, Linda Vear and Sandra Morrison all of Lompoc, brothers, Paschal of North Las Vegas, Nev., William of Peoria, Ill. and Michael of Kingman, Ariz., numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Memorial services were held Saturday, April 8, 2006 at the chapel of Starbuck-Lind Mortuary with Msgr. John Fitzgerald and Lompoc Elks Lodge officiating. Military honors were presented by the United States Navy. An Irish Wake followed at the Lompoc Elks Lodge.
