Her complete name was Mary Eva Braun, Hammel, Schantz, Hatzenbuehler. Rose (Hammel) Fischer Obituary: "Mrs. Rose Fischer, 77, Killdeer, died at St. Joseph's Hospital in Dickinson, Thursday evening (23 Dec 1971) following a short illness. She was born in Flasher, (ND), Sept. 1, 1894, to Lawrence (Lorenz) and Mary (Brown/Braun) Hammel. After her marriage to Peter Fischer, Jan 29, 1914, in Flasher, the couple homesteaded in the Fayette community. In 1924 they moved to Manning and in 1964 they moved into Killdeer. Mr. Fischer died in 1969. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Killdeer and an honorary member of the Altar Society. Funeral Services will be held at 11am, Monday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Killdeer, with the Rev. Austin Hermann officiating. Burial will be at the Killdeer Cemetery, with her sons and sons-in-law as pallbearers. She leaves seven sons, Joseph, Reno, Nevada; Thomas, Bottineau; Lawrence, Theodore James, and Robert all of Butte, Montana; and Harold of Spokan, Washington; five daughters, Mrs. Donald (Dorothy) Magelky, Bismarck, Mrs. Paul (Joan) Meyer, Gladstone, Mrs. Wayne (Mary) Watkins, Manning, Mrs. Albert (Francis) Schollmeyer, Minot, and Mrs. W. G. (Tillie) Medlock, El Paso, Texas; 57 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. A rosary will be said at 8 p.m. Sunday at the Price-Lisko and Henning Funeral Home, Dickinson."
