Pauline Sadowsky, 85, Bismarck, formerly of Dickinson, died June 7, 2015, at Sanford Health, Bismarck, with her family by her side. Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, June 10 at Church of the Ascension, Bismarck, with Monsignor James Braaten officiating. Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, Mandan.
Visitation will be held from 3 to 7 p.m. today at Eastgate Funeral Service, Bismarck, where a vigil-rosary will begin at 7 p.m. Visitation will continue one hour before the service at the church.
Pauline was born Oct. 26, 1929, on the family farm in Dunn County, the daughter of Carl and Margaret (Boespflug) Roshau. She was raised in Dunn County and attended country school through the eighth grade.
Pauline married Bill Sadowsky on Nov. 10, 1948. They lived in Dunn County, where they farmed and ranched all of their lives until their retirement in 1996. Pauline and Bill moved to Bismarck in 2009. Pauline was a member of the Catholic War Veterans Auxiliary and the Friendly Neighbors Homemakers Club. She was very active as a Farmers Union youth leader during day school. She volunteered at many social functions at the New Hradec Hall.
Pauline was a lifetime member of Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church in New Hradec and a member of Ascension Church in Bismarck. Pauline loved spending time with her family and grandchildren. She enjoyed cooking, baking, sewing and gardening. Her pride was her petrified rock flower garden. She followed all her children and grandchildren’s sporting events. She was the glue of the family that held everyone together.
Pauline always stressed that faith and family were the most important things in life.
Pauline is survived by her children, Dennis (Cathy), Parrish, Fla., Linda (Dennis) Gleich, Baldwin, Bill (Nancy), Bottineau, and Marvin, Marilyn (Brian) Mertz and Paulette (Dean) Kerzmann, all of Bismarck; 15 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Frances Bullinger, Kathryn (Ray) Jilek, Dickinson, Delores Franchuk, and Margaret (Bob) Clark, Missoula, Mont.; three brothers, Chuck (Jeanne), Bob (Sharon) and Joe (Mary), all of Dickinson; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill; her parents; two infant brothers; three brothers, Harry, Ralph and Richard; three sisters, Anne Bullinger, Florence Haag and Irene Franchuk; and a grandson, Matt (Becky) Geiger.
