Rosemarie H. Yahner, 95, Patton, passed away Wednesday at home.
She was born in Carrolltown, daughter of the late Michael J. and Bernetta L. (Lieb) Farabaugh.
Surviving are 11 children: Rose Marie (Earl) Miller of Patton, John (Mary) of Chest Springs, Jerry (Rita) of Patton, Mariann (Edward) Gill of Port Jefferson, N.Y., Stephen and friend, Sharon Adams, of Patton, Catherine Pico of Patton, Leo (Sigrid) of Franklin, Pa., Eileen (Jack) Smithmyer of Queenstown, Md., Joseph (Sherry) of Stillwater, Minn., Cindy (Rodger) Bayer of St. Louis, Mo., and Virginia (George) Wineland of Hollidaysburg; a daughter-in-law, Linda Yahner of Binghamton, N.Y.; 200 grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; four siblings: Marge Eckenrode, Betty Stillman, Walter Farabaugh and Mary Lee Yarko; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul J. Yahner, Aug. 6, 1993; two sons: Patrick M. and Thomas E.; two grandsons: Christopher Gill and Benjamin Yahner; a great-grandson, Kalvin Yahner; a great-granddaughter, Allissa Hoover; and 11 brothers and sisters.
Rosemarie was co-owner and bookkeeper for the family farm. She was a member of Queen of Peace Catholic Church, Patton, where she was a life member of the Irish Catholic Benevolent Union. She was also a life member and past regent of the Catholic Daughters of America 722, a 50-year member of St. Elizabeth Fraternity Secular Franciscan Order and a life member of the Pleasant Hill Grange, Chest Springs.
She also belonged to the Patton Fire Ladies Auxiliary and the Patton Music Club and was a Patton Senior Citizens quilter for many years.
Rosemarie enjoyed playing Scrabble, doing crossword puzzles and reading and was devout in her daily prayers.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. Friday, Feb. 19, 2010, at Stevens Funeral Home Inc., 1004 N. Fifth Ave., Patton (www.stevensfh.com), where a vigil for the deceased will be held. Additional viewing will be held from 10 to 10:45 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 20, 2010, at Queen of Peace Catholic Church, Patton, followed by a funeral Mass at 11 a.m. by Benedictine fathers. Committal will be at St. Mary's Cemetery, Patton.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are requested to Queen of Peace Catholic Church, Patton; St. Benedict School, Carrolltown; or the ALS Association.
