Dorothy R. Volm, 77, of the town of Wayne, passed away on Wednesday, October 11, 2006, at Froedtert Memorial Lutheran Hospital in Wauwatosa.
She was born on April 5, 1929, in the town of Kewaskum, the daughter of the late Joseph and Catherine (Becker) Schoofs, and on June 21, 1950, she was united in marriage to Francis Volm at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Kewaskum.
Dorothy was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Kewaskum, where she helped with various projects in the office, Holy Trinity Christian Women and Homemakers. Dorothy was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother, who always put her family first, and she was a great cook. She will be deeply missed by her husband, her family and by all who knew her.
Survivors include her loving husband of 56 years, Francis; a daughter, Mary Kay Mitchell of the town of Wayne; three grandchildren, Shannon Mitchell (girlfriend, Dawn Felix) of the town of Wayne, Jeni (Mike) Flanders of Allenton and Heather (Jeff) Tennies of New Fane; four great-grandchildren, Maggie Mae Tennies, Michaela Rose Mitchell, Alyssa Flanders and Austin Tennies; two brothers, Allen (Paula) Schoofs of Kewaskum and Ralph (Patricia) Schoofs of Hartford; three sisters, Anna Nigh of Kewaskum, Catherine Vitrano of Milwaukee and Lucille Nigh of Kewaskum; two sisters-in-law, Helen Schoofs and Bernice Schoofs both of West Bend, many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Dorothy was preceded in death by an infant granddaughter, Kimberly Linette; a son-in-law, Donald Mitchell; four brothers, Dick, Joseph, Theodore and Francis “Pat” Schoofs; a sister, Apollonia (Joseph) Retzer and four brothers-in-law, Anthony Vitrano, Nathan Nigh, Gregor Nigh and Edward Volm.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Dorothy was held at 7:00 p.m. on Monday, October 16, 2006 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 331 Main Street, Kewaskum. Father Allan Weinert officiated and burial was at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday in the parish cemetery.
Relatives and friends called on Monday at the church from 4:00 p.m. until the time of services.
