Bott, 89, of 135 North Main St. died at 1:20 p.m. Thursday (April 25, 2002) at the Monroe County Care Center in Woodsfield. He was born Dec. 20, 1912, at the family farm east of Woodsfield to Charles F. and Georgia Neuhart Bott. He was a 1931 graduate of Woodsfield High School in Woodsfield and a 1938 graduate of The Ohio State University with a degree in optometry. He practiced optometry in Woodsfield from 1938 to 1974. He was a member of St. Sylvester Catholic Church in Woodsfield. He was the oldest member of the Monroe County Ohio State University Alumni Association, a life member of the Monroe County Historical Society, a life member of the Ohio Optometric Association, and the American Optometric Association.He is survived by one daughter, Helen Marie McGinnis and her husband, John, of Laurens, S.C.; and six nieces, Karen Bott, Joann Brannon, Becky Bott, Monica Long, Lynn Rohr and Samantha Moore.He was preceded in death by his wife, Marie K. Brooks Bott, on Jan. 31, 1998; his parents; one brother, Charles D. Bott, on Dec. 27, 2001; and a nephew, Daniel Bott, on April 25, 1994.Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. Sunday at Watters Funeral Home, 37501 Ohio 78 West, Woodsfield.Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Monday at St. Sylvester Catholic Church in Woodsfield with the Rev. David Gaydosik as celebrant. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Vigil services are at 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.Memorial contributions may be made to St. Sylvester Catholic School, 119 Wayne St., Woodsfield, Ohio 43793; or the Woodsfield High School Alumni Scholarship Fund in care of Carol Schumacher, 139 Maple Ave., Woodsfield, Ohio 43793.
